What Is Dermatologic Surgery?
Dermatologic surgery refers to minor surgical procedures performed on the skin — typically under local anaesthesia, in a clinical setting, without the need for hospitalisation or general anaesthesia.
Unlike cosmetic procedures that use energy devices or injectables, dermatologic surgery involves making a small, precise incision to remove a growth, cyst, lesion, or abnormal tissue from the skin.
At Shakambarri Clinic, all dermatologic surgical procedures are performed by Dr. Babasaheeb Ingale personally — using sterile instruments and technique in a clean clinical environment. Procedures are minimally invasive and typically completed within 30–60 minutes depending on the complexity.

What Procedures Does Dermatologic Surgery Cover?
Cyst Removal
Sebaceous cysts and epidermoid cysts — enclosed sacs under the skin filled with fluid or keratin. These can become inflamed, infected, or simply grow to a size that causes discomfort or cosmetic concern. Surgical excision removes the cyst entirely — including the sac wall — reducing the risk of recurrence.
Lipoma Excision
Lipomas are benign, slow-growing fatty lumps that form under the skin. While harmless, they can be removed surgically when they grow large, become uncomfortable, or are cosmetically bothersome.
Mole Excision
Raised or suspicious moles that cannot be adequately addressed by RF Cautery may require surgical excision — particularly when the mole needs to be sent for histopathological examination. Dr. Ingale assesses every mole carefully before deciding on the most appropriate removal method.
Surgical Removal of Skin Lesion
Removal of benign skin lesions, keratoacanthomas, dermatofibromas, and other growths that are better suited to surgical removal than energy-based treatments.
Scar Revision
Minor surgical revision of scars that are poorly positioned, thickened, or restricting — improving their appearance and the quality of skin around them.
Ingrown Nail Surgery
Surgical management of ingrown toenails — particularly recurrent or infected cases that have not responded to conservative treatment.

What to Expect During a Dermatologic Surgery Procedure
The area is thoroughly cleaned and a local anaesthetic is injected — ensuring the procedure is comfortable. Dr. Ingale then makes a precise incision, removes the target tissue, and closes the wound with fine sutures where needed.
Most procedures take 20–60 minutes. Sutures are removed at a follow-up visit 5–14 days later depending on the location.
Detailed aftercare instructions are provided. Most patients return to normal activities within 24–48 hours.
